Movers from New York to Toronto, door to door, with customs handled
Move Plus moves households from New York City and the surrounding area to Toronto door to door, and can deliver as soon as the next day. We guide you through the Canadian customs paperwork and coordinate the border crossing, and the same crew that loads your home in New York unloads it in Toronto.
How long a move from New York to Toronto takes
With Move Plus: usually the next day
Your things usually travel on a truck dedicated to your move, so they go straight from your door in New York to your door in Toronto, about 800 km, without stops to load other households.
The usual alternative: 2 weeks to 2 months
Many long-distance movers combine several households on one trailer to cut cost. Your delivery date then depends on when the trailer is full and on the other stops on its route.

Customs: what you need, and what we do
Moving your household goods from the US to Canada means declaring them to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). We guide you through it from the first call.
The list of your goods
You prepare two copies of a list of everything you are moving, with each item’s value, and its make, model and serial number where they apply, on CBSA’s Form BSF186A or a list of your own. If you prefer, we prepare it for you as an optional add-on, for an additional price.
Your first entry into Canada
You give that list to the border services officer when you first enter Canada to settle, even if your furniture arrives after you. The officer completes Form BSF186 (Personal Effects Accounting Document). Anything arriving later is listed as “goods to follow”; keep your copy of the BSF186, because it is used to release them.
Your documents
A Canadian passport if you are a Canadian citizen. Otherwise, your passport and either your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), if you are immigrating, or the port of entry letter of introduction for your work permit; the border officer issues the work permit itself when you arrive.
Your goods’ crossing
We time the truck’s arrival at the border with your paperwork so your goods are not held.
The rules are CBSA’s: see its page Moving or returning to Canada. We are a moving company and do not give legal or immigration advice.
